Reliance Power Limited, formerly known as Reliance Energy Generation Limited, was initially incorporated on 7th January 1995 under the name Bawana Power Limited. A month later, in February 1995, the company was renamed as Reliance Power Private Limited. After nine years, it was again renamed as Reliance Energy Generation Limited, and later in 2004, it got its present name – Reliance Power Limited.

Solar Based Power Generation Business
First Plant :Rajasthan Sun Technique Energy Pvt Ltd , this projects generates the solar power with capacity of 125 MW and its operational and generating revenue for the Reliance Power , The only concentrated solar power plants in Rajasthan ( CSP),Jaisalmer District, developed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission
Second Solar Plant in Dhursar Solar Pvt Plant, 40 MW plant commissioned in March 2012 and generating 70 million of khw of clean energy per year, It is also located in Jaisalmer District ,Rajasthan.
Gas Based Power Generation Business
On September 3, 2019, Reliance Power signed an agreement with the Government of Bangladesh to develop Phase-I of a 750 MW gas-based power generation project.
This project is being executed through a joint venture between Reliance Power and JERA, Japan’s largest energy utility company. Under the joint venture structure, Reliance Power holds a 51% stake, while JERA holds the remaining 49%.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this collaboration was signed during the official visit of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Bangladesh, in the presence of Prime Minister Ms. Sheikh Hasina.

NU Power Energies Pvt Ltd. is a subsidiary of Reliance Power , Reliance NU energies Pvt Ltd has incorporated a new subsidiary known as Reliance Transtech Private Limited ( RTPL) on 21-Jan-2025, this company will handle the energy and power sector , the RTPL not yet started its operation, however the Reliance Power appointed a new ED & CEO Mr. Neeraj Parakh on 20-Jan-2025.
